The Fire Brigade Long Service and
Good Conduct Medal is awarded by Her Majesty the Queen, who has stated that she is desirous of honouring those who have rendered long and meritorious service as
members of the Fire Brigades in the United Kingdom.
The Royal Warrant in defining the
conditions of the award provide that those eligible shall be members of all ranks in the Fire Brigades
or Aerodrome Fire Services maintained by Local Authorities or by the
government in England, Wales and Scotland, Northern Ireland and
the Commonwealth states.
The qualifying period needed for the award
of the medal shall be a minimum of 20 years full time or part time
service in one or more of those Fire Brigades.
No person may be recommended for
the medal unless it is certified that his character and conduct has been very good.
